Moscow, June 4, SPA -- A powerful car bomb hit a Russian militaryconvoy in Chechnya on Saturday, the Moscow-backed Chechenadministration said. It was not immediately clear whetheranyone was killed in the blast. The explosion occurred near the Russian military base inKhankala, just outside the Chechen capital, Grozny, thelocal branch of Russia's Emergency Situation Ministry saidin a statement. The Russian state 'Rossiya' television said atruck rigged with explosives blew up when a military convoywas leaving the base.
