Baghdad, June 11, SPA -- U.S. soldiers shot dead two Iraqisand wounded two others in Baghdad on Saturday when theircar came too close to an American armored patrol, themilitary said. Iraqi police Maj. Moussa Abdul-Karim said the victims wereIraqi security guards driving to work in northern Baghdad'sShula neighborhood at about 6:30 a.m. and mistakenly shotby American soldiers. He did not say which company theyworked for. The Associated Press quoted U.S. military spokesman Lt. Jamie Davis as saying the Iraqis were driving too slowly in front of a lead vehicle in an American convoy. An American soldier in the lead vehicle fired a warningshot to make the Iraqi vehicle move away, but its occupantsreturned fire on the convoy and sparked a gun battle, Davissaid.
