Baghdad, April 4, SPA -- Two U.S. service members were killed in central Iraq, the military said Sunday. A Marine assigned to the 2nd Light Armored ReconnaissanceBattalion, 2nd Marine Division, of the II MarineExpeditionary Force was killed Saturday by an explosionwhile conducting combat operations in the city of Hadithah,220 kilometers (140 miles) northwest of Baghdad, themilitary said in a statement from Camp Fallujah. A soldier assigned to 1st Corp. Support Command was killedSunday when a bomb exploded around 6:45 p.m. near thecentral city of Beiji, the military said in a statementfrom Tikrit. The military said coalition forces secured the site nearBeiji, about 250 kilometers (155 miles) north of Baghdad,and were conducting an investigation.
