Saboteurs target oil pipeline in northern Iraq

Baghdad, Feb 14, SPA -- Insurgents blew up an oil pipeline inthe northern oil fields of Iraq and killed two senior police officers in Baghdad, officials said Monday. The oil field attack occurred at the North Oil Company'sAl-Dibbis oil field near Kirkuk, said Maj. Gen. AnwarMohammad Amin. The pipeline supplied oil for internal useand the damage will hamper the country's oil production, hesaid. It would take workers at least three days to extinguishthe blaze and repair the pipeline, Amin said. In Baghdad, gunmen firing from a car killed twohigh-ranking policemen Sunday night, an Interior Ministryofficial said. He provided no other details.
