Rostov-On-Don, Russia, April 28, SPA -- One police officer was killedand five were wounded in a shootout in the Chechen capitalGrozny, the Chechen Interior Ministry said Thursday. Two police vans returning from an investigation came underfire close to midnight Wednesday in the Staropromyslovskydistrict of the city, said a ministry duty officer. A localwoman was also wounded, he said. In the neighboring Russian region of Ingushetia, anarmored troop transporter fell off a mountain road, killingthree Russian servicemen and injuring two, said AlexeiPolyansky, spokesman for the southern Russian branch of theInterior Ministry. He said that a preliminary investigation indicated thatthe accident had occurred due to technical problems, not anattack.
