Rostov-on-Don, April 29, SPA -- Four alleged militants andone policeman were killed in a shootout in a predominantlyMuslim region of southern Russia on Friday, the InteriorMinistry said. The shootout began after Police in Nalchik, capital of theKabardino-Balkariya region, stopped a van to check thedriver's documents. Three men then stepped out of a nearbygarage and they and the van's driver opened fire on theofficers, said Alexei Polyansky, spokesman for the southernRussian branch of the ministry.
