Iraqi special tribunal judge reportedly killed outside Baghdad home

Baghdad, March 2, SPA -- A judge on the special tribunal thatwill put Saddam Hussein and members of his former regime ontrial was assassinated in the Iraqi capital, officials saidWednesday. Judge Barwez Mohammed Mahmoud and his brother were killedTuesday in northern Baghdad's Azamyiah district, police 1stLt. Oday Kayoun told The Associated Press. On Wednesday, a car bomb exploded outside an Iraqi armybase in central Baghdad, killing six soldiers and wounding25, police said. The blast occurred at a base located atthe former Muthanna airport, police officer Salam HashimMahmoud said. The violence came as thousands of mostly black-clad Iraqisprotested outside a medical clinic in Hillah, a city 100kilometers (60 miles) south of the capital where a suicidecar bomber killed 125 people a day earlier.
