Berlin, June 13, SPA -- British Prime Minister Tony Blair's talks with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder on Monday areexpected to touch on differences over the EU budget and thebloc's new constitution. The visit was part of a three-day trip during whichBlair's office said he would be pushing for agreement onhis G-8 priorities of tackling poverty in Africa andclimate change. Still, the European issues seemed likely to dominate thetalks in Berlin, focusing on the two countries'disagreements in recent days. Last week, Schroeder pressed for quick agreement on the EUbudget, even as Britain insisted its long-standing rebatewas not negotiable. At the same time, Germany has ratified the new EUconstitution and has pushed for other countries to forgeahead with the process, despite recent "no" votes inFrance and the Netherlands. Britain has put its referendumon the issue on hold. Blair began Monday in Moscow for talks with RussianPresident Vladimir Putin. The trip was also to take him toLuxembourg and France, the Associated Press reported.--SPA1130 Local Time 0830 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/269481
