More violence kills three in Indian-controlled part of Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 29, SPA -- Two women were killed and anotherwounded in crossfire Wednesday during a shootout betweenIndian soldiers and suspected rebels in a bus in theIndian-controlled portion of Kashmir, police said. Also Wednesday, a paramilitary soldier was killed whensuspected rebels shot him at close range while he was onpatrol in the frontier town of Sopore, about 50 kilometers(30 miles) north of Srinagar, the summer capital of India'sJammu-Kashmir state. In a separate shootout, Farooq Zargar, a leader of theopposition National Conference party, was shot andcritically wounded by suspected rebels in Srinagar's WatalKadal neighborhood, police said.--SPA1247 Local Time 0947 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/228405
