Baghdad, Jan 19, SPA -- Seven people were killed and at least 36 injured in two car bomb explosions in Baghdad on Wednesday, police said. The police, quoted by the official Al-Iraqiya TV channel, said one bomb went off early Wednesday between a maternity hospital and a police station. Six people were killed and 36 injured, the police said. A second car bomb which went off near the Australian embassy south of Baghdad killed an Iraqi and injured seven others but Australians were spared, a spokesman in Canberra said Wednesday. An Australian Foreign Affairs Ministry spokeswoman said all embassy and Australian Defence Force staff had been accounted for. The blast blew out windows in the living quarters of the embassy staff but the embassy itself was undamaged. --SPA 1145 Local Time 0845 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/233611
