Baghdad, Dec 16, SPA -- At least six people _ including threeparamilitary policemen _ were killed in separate rebelstrikes in Baghdad on Thursday, as the insurgents kept uptheir campaign to derail Iraq's upcoming general election. Wednesday's launch of the campaign for the Jan. 30 votefor a 275-member National Assembly was marred by anexplosion near one of Shia's holiest shrines in the southern city of Karbala. The attack in the heartland of Iraqi's majority Shiitepopulation killed eight people and wounded 40, including aprominent cleric, Sheik Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalayee.
