Tehran, Sept 5, SPA -- Europeans should resist U.S. accusations Iran is seeking atomic weapons and treat Tehran's nuclear dossier with caution while sensitive discussions grind on, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Sunday. EU foreign ministers last week criticized Iran's failure to make full declarations of its nuclear programme and discussed whether to haul Iran before the sanctions-imposing U.N. Security Council over its failure to meet commitments to U.N. nuclear watchdog the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). "We are involved in very sensitive talks with the Europeans ... they should be careful with their stances," Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters at a weekly news conference. "We know that the Europeans are under U.S. pressure too." Washington wants Iran sent to the Security Council for failing to meet its commitments to the IAEA. The Islamic Republic denies U.S. charges that its nuclear programme is a front for seeking to build atomic weapons and says it is only trying to meet the booming demand for electricity. --SPA 1457 Local Time 1157 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/198292
