Islamabad, Nov 30, SPA -- Pakistan's prime minister saidTuesday he wants better relations with other Asiancountries, including India, but also urged a resolution of the dispute overthe Himalayan territory of Kashmir. "We are firm in our resolve to look for solutions ofvarious conflicts around this globe and strive for stallingthe emergence of new conflicts," Shaukat Aziz toldlawmakers from more than 50 Asian countries meeting here todiscuss how to enhance peace and cooperation. "It is our firm belief that the resolution of disputes inour region ....will mark the beginning of an era of peace,prosperity in Asia, enabling the countries to use theirresources to mitigate the challenges of poverty,globalization and economic development." He said Pakistan wants "sustained" and "result-oriented" dialogue with New Delhi. Aziz told the 5th General Assembly of Association of AsianParliaments for Peace, held amid tight security, thatcountries in the region are blessed with immense potentialand resources that could be used for "collectivedevelopment and prosperity." "Pakistan is fully committed to effectively contributingto define an international order which would guaranteepeace, security and social justice," he said. The Asian lawmakers elected Chaudhry Ameer Hussain,speaker of Pakistan's lower house of Parliament as theirnew chairman.
