Berlin, Sept 8, SPA -- Iraqi interim President Ghazi al-Yawer began a visit to Germany on Wednesday, the first stop on aEuropean trip to discuss help in rebuilding and stabilizinghis country. Al-Yawer was to meet Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, Germanbusiness executives and opposition leader Angela Merkelduring a three-day stay in Berlin. Schroeder staunchly opposed the U.S.-led war in Iraq andhas ruled out sending German soldiers _ a stance herestated in a speech to parliament Wednesday. However,Germany is helping train Iraqi police and soldiers outsideIraq.
