Islamabad, Jan 9, SPA -- Security forces patrolled thenorthern Pakistani town of Gilgit on Sunday, as the deathtoll from a spate of sectarian violence rose to 14 andflights to the scenic Himalayan destination were suspended,officials said. Authorities declared a round-the-clock curfew in Gilgit,about 250 kilometers (150 miles) north of the capital,after Saturday's unrest, which was triggered by theshooting of a Shiite Muslim cleric by unidentified gunmen.His supporters went on a rampage, setting fire to shops andother buildings, and clashing with rival Sunni Muslims.
