Washington, Aug 21, SPA -- A new series of advertisements pushed President George W. Bush's spending to nearly $46 million in July, the Republican's highest monthly level since he launched the first advertising blitz of his re-election campaign in March, a campaign-finance report filedtoday showed. About $38 million of Bush's spending last month went to advertising firm Maverick Media. The Bush-Cheney campaign raised $14 million in July,about as much as it has been taking in each month since it stopped holding fund-raising events in April but continued accepting donations through the mail and over the internet. Bush raised a record $242 million from the official start of his campaign in May 2003 through last month. He has spent about $209 million andbegan August with $32.5 million in the bank. The president is on pace to break the $250 million mark by the time his primary fund-raising concludes with his nomination September 2 at the Republican national convention in New York City.
