Baghdad, Iraq, Sept 22, SPA -- Iraq promised Wednesday to release one of two high-profile women prisoners. Justice Ministry spokesman Noori Abdul-Rahim Ibrahimannounced that Iraq and coalition officials had decided torelease on bail Rihab Rashid Taha, a scientist. Ibrahim said authorities were also considering whether torelease Ammash, a former member of the Baath party and theonly other Iraqi woman held in American custody, accordingto the U.S. military. However, Lt. Col. Barry Johnson, a U.S. militaryspokesman, said he was not aware of a decision to releaseTaha. He said a group of Iraqi male detainees had beenpreviously scheduled to be released Wednesday from AbuGhraib prison. "There is an ongoing process that has been in place forsome time to review the status of high-value detainees,"Johnson said.
