New Delhi, Sept 2, SPA -- News bulletins created by Arabic news channel Al-Jazeera and dubbed into the Hindi language will be broadcast from Friday on Indian television, targetingone of the world's largest Muslim populations, TVexecutives said. The news channel signed a news sharing agreement onThursday with India TV, a private Indian televisioncompany, to telecast Arabic news with Hindi voiceovers,Wadah Khanfar, managing director of Al-Jazeera, told a newsconference. "India (is) an important base for us and this agreementwill enable us to provide India with news about the Arabworld and vice versa," he said. In return, Al-Jazeera will broadcast Indian news bulletinsin the Middle East. "There is no exchange of money. It is a news barter,"Khanfar said. Al-Jazeera is one of the most popular news stations inArabic-speaking countries, where most media outlets arestate-owned. From Friday, Indian audiences with cable access can watchAl-Jazeera programming on India TV at 11 p.m. (1730 GMT)each day, said Ritu Dhawan, head of production at India TV.
