Baghdad, Iraq, Sept 1, SPA -- Unidentified gunmen opened fireWednesday on a convoy carrying former Iraqi GoverningCouncil member Ahmad Chalabi in an apparent assassinationattempt that wounded two of his bodyguards, Chalabi said. "Terrorists opened fire on one of our vehicles, and wereturned fire," he told reporters. His convoy came under attack in the southern Baghdadneighborhood of Latifiya at about 7:30 a.m as he returnedfrom the holy city of Najaf, said Chalabi spokesman Mithalal-Alusi.
