Kabul, Aug 23, SPA -- The U.S. military on Mondayapologized for the deaths of three unarmed Afghans, shotdead by American troops after their pickup truck failed tostop at a road checkpoint. Spokesman Maj. Scott Nelson said the U.S.-led coalitionwas investigating Saturday night's shooting in the centralprovince of Ghazni, 120 kilometers (75 miles) south ofKabul, and how to make its checkpoints safer. "We are very sorry. This is a dramatic tragedy and threepeople were killed," Nelson told a press conference in thecapital. A man and two women died and two others, a man and awoman, were critically wounded.
