Baghdad, Sept 8, SPA -- A spate of attacks including a suicide car bombing pushed the number of U.S. militarydeaths in the Iraq campaign past 1,000, with the majorityinflicted by an insurgency that bloomed after U.S.President George W. Bush declared major combat over. Fighting with Sunni and Shiite insurgents killed eightAmericans in the Baghdad area on Tuesday and Wednesday,pushing the count to 1,003. That number includes 1,000 U.S.troops and three civilians, two working for the U.S. Armyand one for the Air Force.
