New Delhi, Sept 19, SPA -- India on Saturday eased visa restrictions on some Pakistani professionals in a move seen as a further example of improved relations between the two neighboring countries. Under the new rules, professionals such as doctors accompanying patients as well as academics and journalists with a certain level of experience, will now be able to legally enter India without prior clearance from New Delhi. Pakistani visitors over the age of 65 will also be exempted from reporting to the police during any stay in India, while Pakistani nationals will now be allowed to visit up to 12 locations in India as opposed to the earlier three. "These are unilateral measures... to promote people-to-people contacts with Pakistan," said External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Navtej Sarna. "Naturally we hope that the government of Pakistan would also be able to take similar measures." --SPA 1105 Local Time 0805 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/202876
