ISLAMABAD, Aug 5, SPA – Pakistan Foreign Secretary Riaz Khokhar, as Special Envoy of President General Pervez Musharraf, has met Sudanese President Omer Hassan Ahmed El Bashir and Foreign Minister Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail in Khartoum and discussed the Darfur situation, an official statement said today. Khokhar conveyed a special message of Musharraf to El Bashir regarding the situation in Darfur. The Sudanese president and foreign minister presented Sudan’s point of view on the situation as well as their view on the UN Security Council resolution. The statement said they assured the Special Envoy of Sudan’s desire to implement the UN Security Council and African Union’s resolutions on the matter. The Special Envoy conveyed the brotherly concern of Pakistan and expressed the hope that an early solution to the humanitarian situation in Darfur will be found, the statement said.
