Cairo, Sha'ban 12, 1433, Jul 2, 2012, SPA - Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Arabi urged Syrian opposition groups on Monday to unite and called on world powers to issue a clear, binding timetable to end 16 months of bloodshed in the country. "The Syrian opposition has an opportunity today that should not be wasted. Sacrifices of the Syrian people are bigger than any differences," Al-Arabi said at the opening session of the meeting in Cairo. "There is no way one can equate between actions of the Syrian government and that of legitimate armed opposition. The government is responsible for protecting the people," he was quoted as saying by DPA. He also criticized Saturday's meeting in Geneva for not issuing a binding decision to end the conflict. --SPA 13:32 LOCAL TIME 10:32 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1012545
