UNITED NATIONS, Rajab 2, 1435, May 1, 2014, SPA -- The director of U.N. humanitarian operations says the mood in Central African Republic is turning to "resignation" amid ethnic cleansing and thousands of deaths, and he warns that the international community has not sent enough security forces or funding to change the situation. John Ging told reporters at the United Nations on Thursday, "We have so far failed the people of CAR." Ging briefed on his first visit to the country in three months, and he says there has been a "very significant deterioration," with 2,000 people killed in that time. Central African Republic faces unprecedented sectarian violence, and Ging says people now blame Christians or Muslims instead of simply "armed groups" as before. He says just 28 percent of an international funding appeal for the crisis has been met, according to AP. -- SPA 22:28 LOCAL TIME 19:28 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1227728
