Saudi Arabia concludes joint exercise in Bahrain

MANAMA: The “Bridge 23” drill, a maritime exercise involving forces from the Royal Saudi Navy, represented by the Eastern Fleet, and the Royal Bahraini Navy, has concluded in Bahrain. Bahrain Defense Force Chief Lt. Gen. Dhiyab bin Saqr Al-Nuaimi, and Brig. Gen. Fahad bin Ibrahim Al-Thunayan, military attache at the Saudi Embassy in Bahrain, were present at the exercise, along with a number of senior officers. Col. Ahmed Al-Osaimi, the director of the exercise, said that the drill was executed in a real combat environment, during which leadership was applied at high standards and in record times. He pointed out that the exercise saw the implementation of many scenarios that would improve the combat ability and professional performance of naval operations. He added that the drill was likely to unify tactical concepts of leadership and control, and strengthen the procedures of managing naval battles, in addition to executing many military tactics. Al-Osaimi said that the exercise also focused on shooting the naval cannon of vessels, and utilizing light weapons for the maritime special security units and marines. A final summary was submitted at the end of the drill, the events of the exercise discussed and the performance assessed.
