The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance announced that it had monitored 2,526 infringements on the mosque’s electricity and water services in various regions of Saudi Arabia. The ministry’s monitoring operations was represented by the Mosque Facilities Protection Department. It has noted that the monitoring tours have contributed to control the infringements and transmit them to the competent authorities to compel the aggressors to pay costs and compensation retroactively in accordance with the regulations. The ministry confirmed that it takes special care of the houses of God, in addition to receiving direct attention from the Minister Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif Bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh. The Ministry’s monitoring came as a result from the infringements that mosques are exposed to on their services and property by those who do not respect the houses of God. It noted that some use the mosques’ property for their own benefit. They embezzle electricity and water from mosques’ meters by pulling wires, electric cables, and water pipes and connecting them to their farms and rest houses, their own homes, as well as gas stations, shops and more. It is noteworthy that the minister issued directives to officials in the ministry and directors of branches in all regions of Saudi Arabia to continue monitoring the infringements on the mosques and submit to him a weekly report to take into account every person who attempts to violate. The Ministry said that it receives all reports from citizens and residents in the event that they monitor any infringements of mosques, their facilities and services on the unified number of the Ministry:1933.
