Jeddah, Dec. 21, 2022, SPA -- The General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) participated in the first ministerial meeting of the anti-corruption law enforcement agencies, affiliated to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held here under the auspices of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and hosted by Saudi Arabia's Oversight and Anti-corruption Authority. During the meeting, taking place from Dec 20-21, 2022, the participants approved "Makkah Al-Mukarramah Agreement", which aims to provide a legal framework for the direct and rapid exchange of information and investigations between the anti-corruption enforcement authorities in the OIC member countries, with the aim of facilitating the detection, investigation and prosecution of corruption crimes, thus contributing to the recovery of assets, stolen goods and return them to their countries of origin. It also aims to promote the exchange of technological assistance and training in the field of combating corruption among the organization's member states. The GCC Assistant Secretary General for Legislative and Legal Affairs Counselor Sultan bin Nasser Al-Suwaidi stated that the participation of the GCC General Secretariat in this meeting, which enjoys wide international interaction and attendance, embodies the effective extension of the efforts and role of the GCC countries in combating corruption, and highlights the efforts exerted by the international community to protect integrity and limit the spread of corruption, benefiting from the experiences of states and intergovernmental organizations, and exchanging experiences in the field of combating corruption, which would enhance the principle of transparency and achieve progress and prosperity in the Islamic societies. --SPA 03:14 LOCAL TIME 00:14 GMT 0010 www.spa.gov.sa/w1829318
