Saudi Arabia Wins Membership of IDI Board

Riyadh, December 11, 2022, SPA -- Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and President of General Court of Audit Dr. Hussam bin Abdulmohsen Al-Angari won the membership of the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) for a three-year term starting from January 2023. The IDI Board in its meeting held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on November 10, 2022, approved the nomination results for the two vacant seats on the Board. Dr. Al-Angari was nominated among a number of Heads of SAIs in a number of countries. Dr. Al-Angari is considered to be the first Arab to be elected for membership of the IDI Board since the conception of the Board by the Decision of the General Assembly of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institution (INTOSAI) held in Sydney, Australia in 1986. Moreover, this election is to be added the pioneer role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represented by GCA in the international and regional organizations of supreme audit institutions, which includes: the position of the Second Vice-chairman of INTOSAI, Chairman of INTOSAI's Policy. Finance, and Administration Committee, Co-chair of INTOSAI-Donor Steering Committee, Chair of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institution (ARABOSAI), Member of the Governing Board of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institution (ASOSAI), in addition to a number of participations and memberships in administrative and technical committees in these organizations. In his turn, Dr. Al-Angari valued the support received from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, adding that this election is representing the pioneer role that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is occupying in the international arena. It is worth mentioning that IDI is hosted by the Office of the Auditor General of Norway (OAGN) and its main function is to provide technical support to INTOSAI members by delivering programs and projects to build their human resources capacities. Moreover, IDI coordinate and guide support provided to SAIs in the developing countries to enhance to their performance and help them to face challenges.
