Cairo, October 23, 2022, SPA -- Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, President of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD) and President of the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND), stressed that the COVID-19 pandemic crises and its repercussions have contributed to increasing the number of children who are exploited at work, while the climate change crisis has affected marginalized and weak categories, including children, which requires exerting efforts to save them or even saving the entire mankind. The prince made the remarks during a virtual regional workshop held in Cairo by the Arab League, Arab Labor Organization, AGFUND, ACCD, International Labor Organization, and the Arab Parliament for the Child. Prince Abdulaziz said: “Our interest in the climate change crisis was translated through our institutions, where the 2021 Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development focused on climate in a bid to stimulate efforts towards developing climate action and realizing the 2030 SDGs. This year’s theme was centered on “Decent work”, which is one of the SDGs.” The prince also expressed pride in moving forward with the strategic partnership with the Arab League, Arab Labor Organization, International Labor Organization, and the Arab Parliament for the Child, on child labor issues, expressing hope for the discussions of the workshop and its outcomes to reach recommendations that can contribute to preparing and adopting comprehensive policies to combat the impacts of climate change based on effective partnerships that always seek to ensuring rights of Arab children. --SPA 19:51 LOCAL TIME 16:51 GMT 0038 www.spa.gov.sa/w1801741
