Project of Using Renewable Energy to Improve Quality of Life in Yemen Inaugurated

Aden, October 31, 2022, SPA -- Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik attended today the signing of several agreements in Aden, within the project of using renewable energy to improve the quality of life in Yemen, to operate 12 potable water projects using solar energy technologies, in Hadramout, Abyan, and Lahj governorates, Yemen. The project comes with a tripartite contribution from the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen (SDRPY), the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) and the Sela Foundation for Development, as it targets five governorates; Hadramout, Abyan, Lahj, Taiz and Hodeidah. The siding ceremony was also attended by Lahj Governor Major General Ahmed Abdullah Al-Turki, and Director of SDRPY office in Aden Eng. Ahmed Madkhali, and several officials. Selah Foundation for Development, the implementing agency of the project, signed agreements with the contractor and the project advisory body, and a cooperation protocol was signed with the targeted governorates in the project. The ceremony also witnessed the signing of contracts with the targeted water projects committees. Madkhali said that the Kingdom of the Saudi Arabia, through the SDRPY, made qualitative contributions in meeting the needs of various basic and vital sectors. SDRPY has implemented as many as 224 development projects and initiatives in various Yemeni governorates to serve Yemeni people in seven main sectors: education, health, water, energy, transport, agriculture, and fishery, and building the capacity of government institutions and development programs. --SPA 19:22 LOCAL TIME 16:22 GMT 0028 www.spa.gov.sa/w1807296
