Amman, August 7, 2022, SPA -- Jordan on Sunday condemned the ongoing Israeli violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque, the latest of which was allowing extremist settlers and a Knesset member to storm the compound, under the protection of Israeli police, jordanian News Agency (Petra) reported. Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates’ spokesperson, Haitham Abu Alfoul, said in a statement that the extremists’ break-ins and provocation are a violation of the historical and legal status quo and international law. He also stressed that Al-Aqsa Mosque, with its total area of 144 dunums, is purely a place of worship for Muslims and that the Jordanian-run Waqf (endowments) and al-Aqsa Affairs Administration has the exclusive jurisdiction to run all the affairs of the holy site.
