Saudi Medical Team Successfully Separates Yemeni Conjoined Twins

Riyadh, July 28, 2022, SPA -- In implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, a specialized surgical team was able to successfully separate the Yemeni conjoined twins, "Mawaddah and Rahma”. Adviser at the Royal Court, the Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), and the head of the medical and surgical team, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah said this constitutes the 52nd achievement of its kind, which is added to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s record. He underscored that the separation procedure saw several achievements, including the recovery of the twins after the operation, as this happens for the first time in addition to the fact that the twins did not need blood and it happens for the first time as well. The operation was successfully concluded in 5 hours and was operated by a team of 28 Saudi doctors and specialists, he said, adding that the operation took place easily in all its stages, without witnessing any complications, and the twins are in very good health condition. Dr. Al Rabeeah, on behalf of the team, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH the Crown Prince, for this humanitarian initiative, and the great support for the health sector, extending thanks to his fellow members of the medical and surgical team for their great efforts.
