Makkah, August 25, 2022 SPA -- The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Holy Mosque and the Prophet’s Holy Mosque has developed packages of services and harnessed human and technical capabilities to provide a healthy and safe environment for the visitors of the Grand Holy Mosque. Director of Environmental Protection Department at the Grand Holy Mosque Hassan Al-Suwaihri confirmed that the department is tasked with supervising and implementing the plans related to environmental protection work at the Grand Holy Mosque, in addition to being responsible for developing them according to environmental changes. He added that more than 650 workers and 100 Saudi employees work to implement the supervisory plans and executive programs for sterilization operations at the Grand Holy Mosque and its facilities around the clock. Additionally, environment-friendly sterilizers, 1300 pieces of equipment and sterilization tools, and 650 mobile pumps are used to sterilize roofs, carpets, among others. Al-Suwaihri pointed out that 11 robots are used inside the Grand Holy Mosque to sanitize the holy site, where each robot works up to eight hours without any human intervention.
