Minister of Transport and Logistics salutes Saudi seafarers, lauding their role in supporting supply chains

Riyadh, June 25, 2022, SPA – Minister of Transport and Logistics, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, on the occasion of the International Seafarers Day, which is observed on June 25 annually, expressed his great appreciation for the vital role the seafarers play in the global maritime transport industry and their great efforts in sustaining the flow of the main necessities of life. Al-Jasser said on Twitter “We are proud of all of you, as you are an essential pillar in the progress of the maritime sector and the movement of global trade, with your contributions to support supply chains, the delivery of goods to various countries around the world, and the strengthening of logistics services”. The Kingdom continues to enhance its capabilities in the ports and maritime transport sector, and invest in the Saudi human component of seafarers, as more than 1,000 Saudi sailors work onboard the Saudi Naval Fleet, which in 2021 recorded advanced ranks in the tonnage side, and ranked first regionally and 21 globally, according to the annual report of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development “UNCTAD” for the year 2020. --SPA 21:57 LOCAL TIME 18:57 GMT 0018 www.spa.gov.sa/w1752265
