Islamabad, April 12, 2022, SPA – King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) on Monday inaugurated a project to distribute 25,000 food baskets weighing 2.425 tons in Pakistan, which will benefit 175,000 individuals as part of the Ramadan Feeding Initiative for 1443 Hijri. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawwaf Al-Malki, Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lt. Gen. Akhtar Nawaz and KSrelief Branch Director in Pakistan Dr. Khalid Al-Othmani. Ambassador Al-Malki stressed that the project is a continuation of the support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the people in Pakistan upon directives from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, through KSrelief, noting that the center is known for offering humanitarian assistance and choosing beneficiaries in a professional way, pointing out that KSrelief’s efforts always receive the appreciation of Pakistani senior officials. For his part, Nawaz said: “Pakistan, since its establishment in 1947, has always enjoyed ideal relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” noting that these ties are so deep in history and are based on solid religious, cultural and economic values. He also pointed out that the center is among other humanitarian institutions working in Pakistan for years, and KSrelief has implemented several relief and development projects in affected areas of natural disasters, praising the existing cooperation between KSrelief and NDMA in distributing the relief aid to reach beneficiaries across the country. Nawaz also expressed appreciation, on his behalf and of the Pakistani people, to the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the continuous support provided for the Pakistani people in all hard times. Dr. Al-Othmani noted that the project includes distributing 25,000 comprehensive food baskets containing all food items that families need to prepare iftar and suhour meals, where these baskets will be distributed for the needy in various parts of Pakistan throughout the holy month of Ramadan. This is part of the Ramadan Feeding Initiative that seeks to distribute 156,993 food baskets weighing around 8,430 tons in 19 countries to benefit 901,463 individuals, as part of the relief and humanitarian efforts provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, to several needy and affected countries during the holy month of Ramadan. --SPA 19:19 LOCAL TIME 16:19 GMT 0022 www.spa.gov.sa/w1720343
