CITC Participates in Middle East Governments' Fifth Meeting on “Internet in Changing Environment”

Riyadh, December 15, 2021, SPA -- The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) participated in the round table meeting for Middle East governments under the theme “The Internet in a Changing Environment”, which is hosted virtually by Iraq. CITC Deputy Governor for Information Technology and Emerging Technologies Eng. Raed Al-Fayez took part in the meeting. CITC, during the meeting, shed light on the advanced status achieved by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in adopting modern technologies and protocols of the Internet, where it became the first country in the world in adopting the safe extension of domains, and became among the top 10 countries in adopting the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) . Participants reviewed opportunities and organizational and legislative challenges to develop the infrastructures of communications and information technology, digital services related to the Internet, and keeping pace with the growth in digital business and economy. Participants also discussed the IPv6 and its importance in the support and growth of digital business and economy, documenting Internet resources and the security of routing networks, in addition to discussing the influence of regional Internet exchange points in the movement of data exchange and the importance of evaluation and statistics instruments in developing the Internet infrastructure. --SPA 15:27 LOCAL TIME 12:27 GMT 0027 www.spa.gov.sa/w1665732
