Saudi Press: Saudi Arabia’s response to COVID-19 pandemic results in ranking 1st in three global indicators on addressing the pandemic

Riyadh, June 21, 2021, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia continues to attack the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through launching bomb-laden UAVs, targeting the civilians and civilian objects. Moreover, all these attacks are considered as war crimes in international law. The newspaper further added that the Iranian regime is behind these attacks since it supports the terrorist Houthi militia through providing weapons and experts in order to target the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s territories. The newspaper pointed to the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia’s launching of 17 bomb-laden UAVs on Saturday towards civilian targets in Saudi Arabia, whereas all these terrorist attacks have been confronted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia want to prolong the war. Additionally, the Houthi militia’s attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia include launching 372 ballistic missiles, 659 bomb-laden UAVs and 75 booby-trapped boats, 205 naval mines and 96,292 projectiles. All these crimes affirm that this militia’s main role is to undermine security and stability in the region. The terrorist Houthi militia also committed unlimited crimes against humanity in Yemen, killing the Yemeni people and using brutal methods in the areas under its control, the newspaper concluded. In another context Al-Bilad and Al-Yaum newspapers reported in their editorials that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ranked first worldwide in three global indicators, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the peak of the pandemic. Additionally, these achievements demonstrate the tremendous efforts being exerted by the government of Saudi Arabia to protect the health and safety from the novel coronavirus pandemic. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ranked first in the response of entrepreneurs to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the government response in supporting entrepreneurs, according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) report for 2020-2021. The newspaper added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has also continued advancing in global indicators, maintaining its high ranking in the "Food Standards" index, which is a subcomponent of the Global Food Security Index, achieving first place worldwide in 2020. The Global Food Security Index (GFSI) includes sub-indicators. In these indicators Saudi Arabia also ranked first. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia advanced to the 8th place, during the peak of the pandemic, in the self-sufficiency of food supply index among a set of 113 countries.
