Saudi Press: G20 Leaders' Summit Concluded

Riyadh, November 23, 2020, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that the G20 Leaders' Summit that was hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and concluded yesterday gains historical significance, as it witnessed an extraordinary historical and global crisis, which is the Coronavirus pandemic. The newspaper added that based on the Kingdom’s commitment to its pivotal role in the G20; its regional and international position Saudi Arabia’s presidency of the G20 this year represents an outstanding success, as we have seen the volume of efforts and effective management of our leadership for all presented cases at the summit. It is critical to highlight the efforts of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince in following up the most accurate details related to all initiatives, meetings and coordination of the efforts of the group, which were clearly witnessed in the professionalism of managing the greatest and largest global meeting, the newspaper added. The newspaper concluded that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques announced that Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will launch the National Program for the Circular Carbon Economy to consolidate and accelerate the current efforts to achieve sustainability in a comprehensive manner and call on other countries to work with us to achieve the goals of this program in order to address the climate change with developing the economy and increasing the human prosperity. This historic summit witnesses this success and the positive impact of the recommendations, ideas and effective solutions that will give hope to the entire world. In another context, Al-Yaum newspaper said in its editorial that final communique of the G20, which was hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia virtually in Riyadh and chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques came to encourage and give hope to the world in various aspects and issues that were on the agenda of the G20. The paper added that the G20 made progress in finding vaccines Coronavirus, supporting for the global economy and reopening economies and borders to facilitate the mobility of trade and people, while providing support to developing countries in a coordinated manner to preserve the development progress made over the past decades, as well as laying the basics for strong, sustainable and comprehensive growth, in addition to providing opportunities for all, especially women and youths. The statement also stressed the creation of conditions for creating a more sustainable economy, realizing that trade is an essential engine for the recovery of world economies, the newspaper said. These data included in the communique reflect the roles, efforts and sacrifices of Saudi Arabia, which would restore hope to the peoples of the world, sustain the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's pioneering role in global economy and development, the newspaper concluded. Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported in its editorial that on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders' Summit, the second side event of "Safeguarding the Planet" was held. The speech of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, at this event, came to confirm the Kingdom's clear role in creating a strong, comprehensive, balanced and sustainable economy, through empowering people, safeguarding the planet, and forming new horizons to realize opportunities of the 21st century for all. The newspaper added that Saudi Arabia presented during the work of this summit the Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) approach, which is considered a global strategic option, as it is based on four energy-related elements; namely: reduction, reuse, recycling and removal. These four tracks will be worked on through an understanding of each country's circumstances and their specific wealth of resources. The newspaper said that this approach achieves a goal that humanity has always sought since the first industrial revolution which is eliminating emissions from the atmosphere. The King’s speech came to confirm all these issues, where it is possible for countries to adopt and enhance technologies that are compatible with the tracks they choose. Therefore, the CCE provides promising opportunities for all countries, provides practical and productive solutions and a balance between economic growth necessary for sustainability and environmental issues. The King also called on all other countries to work with Saudi Arabia to achieve the goals of this program of combating climate change while continuing to develop the economy, increase human welfare and improve their standard of living. The newspaper concluded that the King comprehensives speeches confirms the interconnectedness of these issues.
