Interior Minister Approves Regulation to Limit Gatherings and Classifies Violations and Penalties

Riyadh, May 7, 2020, SPA -- An official source at the Ministry of Interior has stated that in addition to what was previously announced on 12 Ramadan 1441 AH regarding the provisions and penalties against violators of the preventive measures being taken to combat the Coronavirus pandemic and according to the second paragraph of the Royal Order No. (A / 584) dated on 6/9/1441 AH, the Minister of the Interior approved a regulation to limit gatherings that contribute to the spread and transmission of the coronavirus, according to the following text: First: The regulation aims to impose social distancing and organize and reduce human gatherings that are a direct cause of the outbreak of COVID-19 to ensure that the virus is contained and controlled. Second: gatherings in this regulation are any gathering for more than one family, or any gathering according to what was referred to in item three of this regulation, consisting of 5 persons or more in one or specified space and not linked by a residential relationship. Third: gatherings are prohibited in all their forms, shapes and locations, and include the following: Family gatherings: (i.e. gathering inside homes, rest houses or farms for more than one family). Non-family gatherings: (i.e. gathering inside homes, rest houses, farms, camps, chalets, or open areas for the residents of one neighborhood or others.). Gatherings at social events: (weddings, funerals, parties, seminars, salons, etc.). Labor gatherings: (i.e. a group of workers houses or buildings under construction, or rest houses, farms, etc., other than their homes). Gatherings in authorized shops: (i.e. a gathering of shoppers or workers inside or outside a store exceeding number stipulated in the precautionary and preventive measures. Fourth: gatherings in all their forms, shapes, and locations, whether within or outside neighborhoods and cities shall be controlled by security units designated for this purpose, in addition to the authorities supervising the private sector establishments. Fifth: Whoever attends, calls for, or causes gatherings is in violation of the provisions of this regulation. Sixth: Preventive and precautionary measures, with any update made on them, and violations related thereto and the penalties resulting for violating them shall be published in the official media. Seventh: All individuals and entities from the public and private sectors must strictly adhere to the approved instructions related to health safety requirements and rules for social distancing and prevent gatherings in all their forms, shapes and locations. Eighth: Anyone who knows about any gatherings that violate the provisions of this regulation, must inform the competent authority of the place of its occurrence, on the toll-free number (999) in all regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, except for Makkah region on number (911). --More 16:25 LOCAL TIME 13:25 GMT 0027 www.spa.gov.sa/w1323711
