Manama, Jul 1, 2020, SPA -- The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain lauded the decision taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to limit the number of those who wish to perform this year's Hajj season 2020 in order to ensure the safety of people and protect them from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). This came in the Council's regular weekly meeting headed by the Council Chairman Shaikh Abdurrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa of Bahrain. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's decision on Hajj came in line with the Islamic Sharia that calls for protecting human lives, the Council said. "This wise decision demonstrates the keenness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH Crown Prince to hold Hajj, the fifth pillar of Islam, while at the same time ensuring the safety of the performers," the Council added. The Council also said "The decision also shows the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting the efforts of the global community and the international health organizations to fight the COVID-19 pandemic." --SPA 18:51 LOCAL TIME 15:51 GMT 0015 www.spa.gov.sa/w1362627
