OIC FMs reject Netanyahu's declaration to annex more Palestinian territories

Jeddah, Sep. 15, 2019, SPA -- An extraordinary meeting of the foreign ministers of the Jeddah-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), convened at a request of the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, today denounced the declaration of Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he is determined to annex new lands of the occupied West Bank to Israel, once he was re-elected. The OIC meeting announced that, based on its statute, the international obligations that seizing other's lands by force is prohibited, and thanking the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for hosting this meeting, and renewing its support for the Palestinian leadership and people in their endeavor to gain their independent state on the parallels of 1967 with Al-Quds as its capital, confirms that the issue of Palestine and holy city of Al-Quds was and will remain the priority of the Islamic world, and accordingly absolutely reject Netanyahu's declaration that he is determined to impose the Israeli sovereignty on all lands of Guar of Jordan, northern of the Dead Sea, and the occupied West Bank settlements, considering it a flagrant escalation against the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The meeting held Israel responsible of the repercussions of such colonization policies on the land of Palestine, including the deliberate demolition of the international efforts to bring about a fair and comprehensive peace in the region based on the two-state solution. The meeting urges all OIC member states to raise the matter at the UN arena during the forthcoming session, the UN security council to shoulder its responsibility to safeguard international peace and security through coercing Israel not to dare to alter the situation on the ground and considering any such endeavor as null and void. The meeting expressed support for the Palestinian initiative, launched at the UN in February 2018, calling for launching a political authentic process that puts a timetable under an international patronage to solve the Palestinian problem on the bases of the international legitimacy and references, including the Arab peace initiative approved at the Arab summit in 2005 and the two-state solution on the 1967 parallel.
