Makkah, February 28, 2020, SPA -- The Muslim World League (MWL) affirmed on behalf of the scholars and intellectuals of the Islamic world, who are under its global assemblies and bodies, expressed its full support for the temporary precautionary measures taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to suspend entry to the Kingdom for the purposes of Umrah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque, in implementation of international standards adopted to support the efforts of states and international organizations, especially the World Health Organizationto stop the spread of coronavirus. In a statement, MWL Secretary-General Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa said that MWL affirms that the temporary preventive measure is a legal duty that the texts of Sharia attest to, as well as the importance of adherence to international standards in this regard, and that the decision confirms the Kingdom's keenness on the safety of Umrah performers and visitors from the risk of this spreading disease. Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa, in his name and the name members of the MWL, thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for this temporary precautionary measure aimed at the safety of Umrah performers and visitors in the face of the rapid spread of this disease that has become a threat to global health.
