New York, Safar 05, 1440, October 14, 2018, SPA -- Permanent Delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the United Nations in New York has underlined the importance of concerted international efforts within the framework of the United Nations to enhance international partnership in achieving broad prospects for sustainable agricultural development and food security through the implementation of the outcomes and recommendations of international conferences on food security and agricultural development to eradicate hunger and poverty. This came in the kingdom's speech on food security and agricultural development during the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly. The speech was delivered by Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Qadi. The Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the United Nations in New York said that the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for Saudi agricultural investment abroad is in line with the directives of the specialized agencies to help developing countries to invest internally and build their infrastructure and provide incentives for the sustainable use of soil and water resources. Al-Qadi said that the increase in population growth, low arable land, as well as the effects of urbanization and economic growth make the issue of food security one of the most important issues of the 21st century.
