Bamako, Ramadan 6, 1438, Jun 1, 2017, SPA -- At least eight soldiers were injured Thursday when unknown rebels shelled the airport of Mali's northern city of Timbuktu, the country's Defense Ministry said. Several French soldiers were among those injured during the attack on Thursday morning, a French army spokesman said. The soldiers were at a camp for the United Nations' peace-keeping mission in Mali, which is located at the airport. The identity of the attackers remained unclear, dpa reported. The attack comes a day after a convoy carrying supplies for Malian soldiers was ambushed between the towns of Nampala and Diabaly. Several soldiers were wounded, while several others were missing, the defense ministry said in a statement. --SPA 01:31 LOCAL TIME 22:31 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w419475
