Kabul, Aug 7, SPA -- At least eight soldiers of the U.S-led coalition were wounded in two separate incidents in the southern Afghan province of Zabul, the U.S. military said in statement on Saturday. The first incident occurred early Friday morning and the second incident took place six hours later. "In the first incident, five coalition soldiers were injured when close to 10 insurgents attacked their 10-vehicle convoy with rocket propelled grenades about 34 kilometers east of Deh Chopan district," the statement said. Three of the injured soldiers were treated and returned to duty. The other two are currently in stable condition at Kandahar Air Fields hospital, awaiting transportation to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. In the second incident, three coalition soldiers were injured when a suspected improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle about 62 kilometers north of Qalat, the provincial capital of Zabul province. All three soldiers were treated and returned to duty. Currently there are some 20,000 U.S-led troops hunting remnants of the Taliban and al-Qaeda network, mainly in south and southeastern region. --SPA 1220 Local Time 0920 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/189614
