United Nations, 25 Muharram,1439 AH, 15 October,2017 , SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has stressed the importance of promoting and implementing the safety framework for the application of nuclear power sources in outer space. This came in the speech of the Kingdom at the United Nations this week before the Fourth Committee on Special Political and Decolonization issues during the discussion of the international cooperation at the International Committee on the peaceful uses of outer space within the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly delivered by the adviser at the Kingdom's permanent delegation to the United Nations Abdullah Al-Harbi. Al-Harbi emphasized that the international cooperation in the field of space activities was one of the important means of peaceful exploration of outer space, pointing out that the Kingdom, represented by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, has signed several agreements in the field of outer space technology and its applications with a number of active parties in the United States of America, China, Russia, Germany and France, in addition to a number of other countries, as the Kingdom has an ambitious national satellite program to make use of them to contribute to the development of the region and the world at large. -- SPA 13:04 LOCAL TIME 10:04 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w512279
