Athens, Shawwal 11, 1437, Jul 16, 2016, SPA -- Turkish soldiers who landed in Greece in a helicopter on Saturday, seeking asylum after apparently fleeing a failed coup, should be returned to Turkey, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said. "We have called for the extradition of eight treasonous soldiers who flew to Greece by helicopter," dpa quoted Cavusoglu as saying. The soldiers landed in the Greek port city of Alexandroupolis, near the Turkish border, at midday Saturday. The pilot of the helicopter requested permission for an emergency landing, and the aircraft was accompanied to the city's airport by two Greek F16 fighter jets. The eight occupants of the aircraft were detained upon their arrival at the airport and immediately applied for political asylum, police said. --SPA 15:21 LOCAL TIME 12:21 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
