UNITED NATIONS, Ramadan 23, 1436, Jul 10, 2015, SPA -- The U.N. envoy to Libya Friday condemned increasing hostilities in Benghazi and the heavy toll it has been taking on civilians. In a statement, Bernardino Leon deplored the repeated shelling of residential areas in the city while reiterating his belief that “there can be no military solution to the conflict.” According to the U.N. refugee agency, more than 434,000 people have been displaced due to the conflict. Benghazi has the largest bloc of internally displaced, roughly 105,000 people. Meanwhile, the violence also is adding to the mounting list of casualties. This week alone, the statement said, at least 10 fatalities were reported among civilians in Benghazi, including a number of children. --SPA 20:38 LOCAL TIME 17:38 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
