Washington, Dhu-AlQa'dah 6, 1436, Aug 21, 2015, SPA -- Hurricane Danny, this year's first major storm in the Atlantic Ocean, has gained strength as it moves westwards but is not expected to intensify, the US National Hurricane Centre said Friday, dpa reported. Danny is now a category 3 hurricane with maximum wind speeds estimated at 185 kilometres per hour, said the centre, based in Miami, Florida. It upgraded the storm based on reports by airborne hurricane hunters. Danny is not expected to intensify as it moves westward toward the Dominican Republic. The centre said a weakening trend is expected to begin later Friday. The centre's projection has it reaching the northern Leeward Islands as a tropical storm on Monday. -- SPA 22:15 LOCAL TIME 19:15 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
